Bet you never thought you’d hear about a brewery opening a nature trail. That’s exactly what Jester King Brewery in Austin has done. The brewery has a two-mile nature trail that welcomes visitors from 8 am to dusk every day.
About the Nature Trail
In 2015, Jester King purchased 58 acres of land around its brewery. The company wanted to help with land conservation to protect the natural beauty around its property. Three years later, the brewery added 107 acres of land. This includes the facilities known as the Jester King Kitchen and the Hall at Jester King.
Jester King wants guests and the community to experience the beauty of the Texas Hill Country’s natural landscapes. And this trail makes this possible.
Reservations aren’t required for the trail or to buy drinks to relish while on the trail. However, they require reservations to dine onsite at a picnic table. You can book your spot on their website.
Tips for the Nature Trail
You can bring well-behaved dogs on a leash as long as you pick up the dog’s presents and trash it properly. The trail has trash cans. While face masks aren’t required for the trail, they ask you to please remain at a safe distance. They also appreciate your having a mask for when you enter common areas or stand near guests or staff.
Currently, bikes aren’t allowed on the trail. You can bring a stroller. However, be aware the rough terrain can be hard on strollers. They have level terrain on the inner loop Farm Trail. Speaking of uneven terrain, they recommend wearing comfortable shoes.
Stay on the trail unless yielding to someone else. Going off trail can damage some plant or animal species and negatively impact the ecosystems. Leave all items on the trail where they belong. They would not find joy anywhere else but on the trail.
