Garner State Park
Starting us off is Garner State Park in Concan, Texas. This 1,774-acre state park is the most popular state park in Texas, and overnight visitors can choose from campsites, screened-in shelters or cabins. While you could easily go for just a night and have plenty of fun, staying the whole weekend will allow you to enjoy all that this piece of Texas Hill Country has to offer!
Krause Springs
Located not too far from Dripping Springs, TX in Spicewood, Krause Springs is a beautiful natural area with cypress trees that are estimated to be 1,000 years old! During peak summer camping times, you can also go down to the man-made swimming pool at the top of the hill and the legendary, spring-fed swimming hole at the bottom of the hill. Just a tip: some of the best campsites are actually the furthest from the pool.
Lost Maples State Natural Area
In the Sabinal River Canyon on the Sabinal River, the Lost Maples State Natural Area is a great place to pitch your tent and go hiking in the park or fishing in the Sabinal. This beautiful area in Vanderpool, Texas offers 30 campsites with water and electricity, but if you and your family really want to experience nature and do camping right, you can backpack to one of the six primitive campsites!
