This time of year is always filled with so much excitement with the holidays, especially with all the great Thanksgiving events near Dripping Springs! To help you make the most of this gobbly good time of year, here are our favorite Turkey Day events near Caliterra in Dripping Springs.

Operation Turkey Austin
When: Thursday, November 16 – Thursday, November 23 (Thanksgiving Day)
Where: Through the Austin Metro
What Time: Various times per event
Starting off our list is considerably one of the biggest charitable series of events in Austin, and coincidentally has some of our favorite Thanksgiving events near Dripping Springs! Operation Turkey Austin has several events within the one-week period. All events are meant to benefit the homeless and underserved people of the Austin area. While their Chipotle “Cause An Effect” Fundraiser has already passed, there are still more opportunities to get involved!
If you want to get involved, start off by going to the first Volunteer Orientation on Thursday, November 16 at Shiner’s Saloon from 6:00 – 7:00 PM. If you can’t make it then, you can go to the second Volunteer Orientation Sunday, November 19 at Austin City Hall from 2:00 – 3:00 PM. Once oriented, you’ll be able to participate in the various events like the Turkey Tailgate and give back to the Austin community.
ThunderCloud Subs Turkey Trot
When: Thursday, November 23 (Thanksgiving Day)
Where: The Long Center – Austin
What Time: Kids K – 8:45 AM, Timed 5 Mile – 9:30 AM, Untimed 5 Mile – 9:35 AM, 1 Mile Walk/Run – 9:50 AM
Not only is this one of the goofiest Thanksgiving events near Dripping Springs, but the ThunderCloud Subs Turkey Trot has consistently been the largest 5 mile run in Texas. Oh, and did we mention that you can dress like a turkey! All proceeds of the event will go to Caritas of Austin. There’s something for every member of your family, and it’s not too late to sign up for the perfect thing to help you build up your Turkey Day appetite.
Since Caliterra in Dripping Springs is an easy, 20-minute drive away from Austin, there’s no reason not to go have fun and participate in these events. Get the whole family in on it this year and sacrifice your Thanksgiving morning to help those less fortunate.
