Texas Night Sky Festival

Location: Dripping Springs Ranch Park and Event Center
This is a free celebration of the beautiful, Texas night sky. Enjoy fun science activities, engaging speakers and exhibits, feast at the various food trucks and, most important, explore the stars.
The goal of this Dripping Springs event is to increase the appreciation of the night sky. This objective goes hand-in-hand with the desire to increase awareness about light pollution that obstructs our common view of the night sky.
ABC Zilker Kite Festival
Date: Sunday, March 6, 2016
Time: All Day
Location: Zilker Park in Central Austin
This free event is for all of those who enjoy flying kites or even just being a part of the great outdoors! There will also be contests for kids and adults.
All benefits from the Kite Festival go to the non-profit Communities In Schools of Central Texas, a dropout prevention program.
SXSW
When: March 11-20, 2016
Location: Austin, TX
The South by Southwest (SXSW) Conference and Festival offers the unique convergence of original music, independent films and emerging technology. As the premier destination for discovery, it fosters both creative and professional growth.
This Austin event has been going on for 30 years. It started in 1987 with just 177 independent musical artists. In 1994, the Film and Interactive portions were started with two world premieres. Last year, 2015, there were over 2,000 independent musical artists!
Balloons Over Horseshoe Bay Resort
When: March 25-27, 2016
Where: Horseshoe Bay Resort
More than 20 hot-air balloons from across America will come together on Easter weekend. This is the fourth year for this Austin event, and it’ll feature live music, tethered balloon rides and the annual evening balloon glow.
Admission for this Austin event is free for children 12 & under.
