You haven’t truly seen Orion’s Belt or the Big Dipper until you’ve seen them in a Dark Sky Community. Certified Dark Sky Communities like Dripping Springs make stargazing at Caliterra second to none. That’s why our master-planned community is having an entire event for residents to be able to stop and stare up at the stars. Here’s what you need to know about Stargazing at Caliterra and about what it means for Dripping Springs to be a Dark Sky Community.
Shoot for the Stars: Stargazing at Caliterra
When: Friday, January 19
Where: Caliterra Event Pavilion – 505 Wynnpage Drive, Dripping Springs, TX
What Time: 6:30 PM – 9:00 PM
Join us for a night of stargazing at Caliterra where there will be appetizers and millions of bright, shining stars overhead. Make sure you bring a blanket not only to lay on but also to cover up. We expect it to be a little chilly, but trust us when we say that the view is worth it. But how will stargazing at Caliterra in Dripping Springs be any different from stargazing in some other city? Well, that’s easy! Dripping Springs is a certified Dark Sky Community in Texas.
What is a Dark Sky Community?
To be a certified Dark Sky Community, a town, city or municipality must put an extreme level of focus and dedication to preserving their natural areas and keeping the skies free of light pollution. A Dark Sky Community can only get this distinction from the International Dark-Sky Association, and they’ve only certified 16 communities around the world – two of which are in Texas: Dripping Springs and Horseshoe Bay. We look forward to seeing everyone at Shoot for the Stars: Stargazing at Caliterra in a couple of weeks!
