Set Your Priorities
Before you look at any houses or sit down with a Realtor, you’ll want to make a list of priorities. Write down everything you want in a home and let the kids chime in as well. You want a home that they’ll love just as much as you do. Once you have that list, rank them into two categories – the must-haves and the bonus features. Some of the things on this list would be number of bedrooms, bathrooms and even yard size.
Walk Through More Than Once
Walking through a home for the first time can be a very exciting moment, and you may not pay attention to all the small details that first time. So, enjoy the first walk through just to get a feel for the house, then once the excitement has subsided, walk through again and take a critical look at everything.
Bring Furniture Measurements
The last thing you want to do is get a home that won’t fit all of your furniture, so bring furniture measurements with you. While all of our new homes in Dripping Springs have open floor plans, it’s always good to be sure that all of your items can properly fit in the given space.
Take Photos and Videos
When you’re viewing multiple homes, it’s easy for you to get them mixed up. The best way to avoid forgetting what feature went with which house, take plenty of photos and videos. While most Realtors will be fine with you taking pictures and videos, you should always check with them first to make sure they don’t have any objections.
Think About How You Would Use the Space
Take a moment when you’re looking at the home to see how you would lay everything out, and ask yourself “How would I use this space?”. Just because it’s staged to be another bedroom, would you want to turn it into a home office or gym?
