Summer is in full swing, and if you and your family aren’t out having a blast, then you’re doing summer wrong! There are so many things to do in Austin and so many family-friendly events near our master-planned community that there’s no reason for you guys to sit at home! Here are some of the family-friendly events near Austin that we would recommend going to this month.
First Thursday Dripping Springs
When: Thursday, July 6
Where: Downtown Dripping Springs
What Time: 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM
Experience downtown Dripping Springs as it comes to life after 5. First Thursday Dripping Springs is one of our favorite recurring family-friendly events near Austin. Better yet, it’s so close to Caliterra, that it’s the perfect monthly event for you and your family to go to!
The Wizard of Oz
When: Friday, July 7 – Saturday, August 12
Where: Zilker Hillside Theater
What Time: 8:15 PM on Thursdays – Sundays
An all-time classic in musical theater, The Wizard of Oz is coming to the historic Zilker Hillside Theater. This free show is sure to be a hit among all families and musical lovers in Austin. Don’t forget to get there early with your lawn chairs and blankets to get the best spot.
Texanische Nacht
When: Saturday, July 15
Where: Austin Saengerrunde
What Time: 5:00 PM – 10:00 PM
This Texas-German celebration is back for another year, and if you haven’t already gotten your tickets, you have until July 10! Texanische Nacht will have everything from cold drinks and delicious food to live music and plenty of opportunities to dance your heart out!
Austin Aquarium
If you don’t want to commit to a specific event on a specific day, you could always head over to the Austin Aquarium! As one of our favorite things to do in Austin, they have plenty of small, daily events that both you and your kids are sure to enjoy!
Wimberly Market Days
When: Saturday, August 5
Where: Wimberly Town Square
What Time: 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM
So you may have already missed the Wimberly Market Days for July, but that just means you have more time to get ready for the August one! Happening on the first Saturday of every month, these family-friendly events have been happening since 1964! Head on over there next month and see what neat items and trinkets you can find from local vendors.
