It’s no secret that this part of Texas is home to some of the best breweries in the country. With such an abundance of quality breweries, it can be difficult to stand out from the competition, but that’s never been a problem for Jester King Brewery.
Co-founded by Jeffery Stuffings and Michael Steffing in 2007, Jester King has become a destination for locals and visitors alike, not only for its beer, but food, event space, and even lodging. If you’re curious about what makes Jester King such a favorite in Dripping Springs, here are just a few reasons.
Drink and Food with Local Flavor
Jester King’s philosophy is all about “time, place, and people.” The brewery is located on a 165-acre farm where its brewers and chefs draw inspiration “from the classic farmhouse breweries of Europe that embrace principles of subtlety, restraint, patience, full attenuation, and interesting fermentation character.” Jester King uses local ingredients, many grown on the site to create award-winning ales, IPAs, lagers, stouts, and spontaneous fermentations. These are unfermented beers that are allowed to chill overnight to “allow native yeast to work its magic.”
Beer is hardly the only thing Jester King Brewery knows how to do well. In 2021, the brewery began producing its Farmhouse Apple Cider, and in 2022 the brewery rolled out a number of wines including Sparkling Cherry and Blueberry Wine.
Of course, nothing compliments delicious beer, cider, and wine better than food and the team’s executive and sous chefs have developed a menu that’s a step above the typical deep-fried bar food. Guests can enjoy everything from wood-fired pizzas and smoked brisket to blue cornbread with honey butter.
The Perfect Event Space
Jester King is more than a brewery. You could visit this place and only have a glass of water and still have a killer time. The event calendar has something for everyone with regular live music, painting classes, and trivia nights. Looking for something a little more off the beaten path? Perhaps Doom Metal Goat Yoga (yes, with live goats) is more your speed.
The farmhouse brewery’s not only popular for a chill afternoon with friends but is an in-demand event space for weddings, corporate events, and fundraisers with several areas that can accommodate groups of up to 175 guests.
Stay the Night
Not only is the rustic setting an ideal site for a wedding, but lodging is available on-site with a number of cabins. Guests can choose from one of five properties that are accessible through a private gate and feature amenities such as queen size beds, a kitchenette, and a back porch that opens up to a moonlit shower.
Heck, you really don’t even need a special reason to spend the night on the grounds. Grab your tent and you can reserve your own private camping spot with a fire pit area and shared bathhouse. Seriously, what could be better than a six-pack of Jester King’s Ghost Cannon IPA around the fire pit?
