We’ve highlighted area wineries a few times, and for good reason. The Hill Country offers some of the best local wines in Texas. Whether you’re planning a trip on the Dripping Springs wine trail or looking to spend one day at a specific winery, there’s always a good reason for vino lovers to venture off to a local winery.
One of the best ways to enjoy a good glass of wine is with a scenic view or stunning sunset; these wineries offer just that.
Bell Springs Winery: This Dripping Springs winery has one of our favorite patios for a chill Saturday or Sunday afternoon. There are plenty of rocking chairs and picnic tables that offer a relaxing view of the numerous oak trees that dot the grounds. Grab a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc or Merlot and soak it all in.
Parmeson Wines: This small family-owned and operated vineyard has been operating at its location on Bell Springs Road since 2019. The winery focuses on premium wines produced in small lots. It’s open from noon to 6 PM Thursday through Sunday and features an outdoor patio that often has live music on the weekends. There’s even an eclipse party on April 8, making for a once-in-a-lifetime scenic sip.
Driftwood Estate Winery: Spanning nearly 18 acres, this local winery has been producing award-winning wines since 1997 and is still going strong. When it comes to enjoying a glass of Malbec or Texas Syrah, you can’t get a better seat than on the Driftwood Bistro’s patio. The covered patio overlooking the valley below is the perfect place to enjoy good wine and watch the sunset.
Fall Creek Vineyards: The seeds that would grow into the grapevines of Fall Creek Vineyards date back to the 1970s and it has the distinction of being the Hill Country’s oldest vineyard still in operation. They’re clearly doing something right because it continues to win regional and national awards. Make a day of it and grab some lunch at Salt Lick BBQ before heading to Fall Creek, just across the street.
Duchman Winery: This winery may have strictly Texas origins, but it’s hard not to feel like you’ve stepped into Tuscany from the winery’s stunning Italian-inspired architecture. The winery is a popular spot for weddings and other events because of its natural setting, and there are certainly worse ways to spend a Saturday evening than spreading a blanket out on the lawn with a bottle of their Roussanne.
Hamilton Pool Vineyards: How many wineries do you know of that offer camping? Well, if you prefer to enjoy a good bottle of vino and don’t want to worry about finding a designated driver, the vineyard has several camping sites available – it doesn’t hurt that the property is gorgeous. (There’s also a guest house for rent if tents aren’t your thing.) The working farm and winery offers a range of wines, as well as special events such as live music and outdoor yoga.
Dripping Springs really does have a wine culture that is uniquely its own. It’s one of the things people love so much about this area. If you’d like to find a home here, reach out to the Caliterra team today.
