Dripping Springs residents are fortunate to have access to some of the best opportunities in the United States when it comes to outdoor recreation. Whether it’s the heart-pumping adrenaline you seek or something more chill, there’s plenty to do – and many activities can be enjoyed throughout the year.
Rock Climbing
From bouldering to rappelling, when it comes to rock recreation, the Texas Hill Country does not disappoint. If you’re new to the Dripping Springs area or new to climbing in general, the pros at Texas Climbing Adventures can show you the ropes.
Just 20 minutes from Dripping Springs, the climbing group is run by expert guides who can provide private instruction and full-scale group adventures for all skill levels.
Float the River
While Central Texas is fortunate to have some fantastic waterparks, the best water park may just be nature itself. Whether this is your first summer in Texas or your fiftieth, nothing beats the heat on a hot August day like a float down the San Marcos River.
Head south for about an hour, and you’ll have your pick of several tubing rental companies that will be happy to drop you off and pick you up for a float. All you have to do is kick your feet back and relax!
Zipline Action
Until rocket packs become the norm, there are only so many options when it comes to our ability to soar like an eagle. Zipline company Wimberley Zipline has stepped up to help adventure-seekers spread their wings and fly with a zipline course that features 10 different zip lines.
Visitors will get to experience a birdseye view as they glide over canyons and creeks at over 30 miles an hour. If you’re looking for a group outing or first date that is anything but boring, this is it!
Underground Exploration
If you’re in need of a surefire way to escape the Texas sun, then you’ll find exactly that an hour away in Georgetown, Texas. Inner Space Cavern gives explorers a chance to journey into the earth and discover a cave that was hidden for over 10,000 years.
Several different tour options for the cave are available. (Check out the Wild Cave tour if you’re not claustrophobic and aren’t afraid to get a little dirty.) What every tour offers, though, is a cool and comfortable 72 degrees year-round.
Obstacle Course
If watching American Ninja Warrior is making you feel that maybe it’s time to get off the couch, then Ninja Nation Austin is just the place to be. Even if you don’t have dreams of becoming an ANW champion, the ninja gym is all about helping people flip, swing, and climb in a safe and fun environment.
A range of activities are available, from private and group instruction to open gym play and themed nights. The gym is open to both young children and adults of all skill levels.
Disc Golf
If flipping out or climbing up a rock cliff isn’t really your thing, then grab a few buddies and head out for a round of golf… disc golf. If you’ve never played disc golf, it’s exactly like regular golf – minus the golf balls, clubs, tee times, and funny shoes.
Located right here in Dripping Springs, Dreamland is an 18-hole disc golf course that takes players through a 2-mile course of beautiful midlevel Hill Country terrain.
No matter what you’re in the mood for, there’s no shortage of outdoor fun in the Dripping Springs area. If you’d like to find a home here, contact the Caliterra team today to learn more about this master-planned community.
