Dripping Springs, Texas, is known as the “Gateway to the Hill Country” because of its picturesque views that look like something you’d find in the breathtaking landscape paintings. Here are five more reasons you’ll want to live here.
- Exemplary Education
Students living in the Caliterra community, the northwestern area of Hays County, and a small area of Travis Country attend Dripping Springs Independent School District. The district aims to place a “life changer” in every class. What they do is nurture students’ love of learning and helps them master their lessons. The district’s curriculum emphasizes important skills including problem-solving, collaboration, critical thinking, creativity, communication, and citizenship.
All DSISD schools achieved “Met Standard” in 2019. The district has been a statewide finalist in the District of the Year three years in a row in the H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards Program. The Board of Trustees was a finalist for the H-E-B School Board of the Year in the state of Texas in 2017.
- Relaxed Country Living
If you’ve been looking for a town with charm, you’ll exactly that in Dripping Springs. While the town continues to thrive and grow, it works to maintain its small-town vibe. Every day, you’ll discover something new in nature. The nice thing is that you have big city resources only a short drive away. It’s the best of both worlds.
- Amazing Parks
Believe it or not, Dripping Springs is loaded with park options. Dripping Springs Ranch Park has 130 acres of lush trees, miles of trails, and lots of wildlife. The park features more than 6 miles of multi-use trails and plenty of room for horseback riding or flying a kite.
There’s also the Hill Country Conservancy‘s Violet Crown Trail. Hikers and bikers enjoy the scenic trail that takes them through Barton Creek Wilderness Park, the City of Sunset Valley, and Hays County. In the near future, it’ll also pass by Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center.
- Unique Restaurants of All Kinds
Burgers? Pizza? Breakfast? Coffee shops? BBQ? You won’t have to go far to find popular spots. There’s something for everyone right here in Dripping Springs.
- Unbeatable Stargazing
Dripping Springs has the distinction of being the first International Dark Sky Community in Texas and the world’s sixth Dark Sky Community. The city has adopted the Outdoor Lighting Ordinance in 2000 to prevent light pollution and ensure an incredible stargazing in Dripping Springs.
Additionally, you can learn more about the sky and universe at Reimers Observatory. It has two large telescopes. Residents can attend a two-hour program that teaches the science behind what’s in the sky and stories about the stars.
These are just five of the reasons you’ll want to live in Dripping Springs. There are many more, but we’d be here all day.
