And when a couple does finally settle on that perfect venue and the big day arrives, capturing the festive occasion is a must. A wedding photographer is one route to take, however, it’s not the only way to document the celebration of two people starting a new chapter in their lives together. Ever consider a live wedding painting?
Wedding paintings are by no means new. They’ve actually been around for centuries, and have recently come roaring back into popularity again. A live wedding painting is pretty much exactly what it sounds like. A painter is hired for the occasion, brings his or her canvas and paints, and documents the occasion by painting a scene — typically the reception, as it allows the artist more time to work and it’s when the best celebrating happens.
“Not only does the painting end up being a favorite wedding keepsake or heirloom, but having a live artist at your wedding ends up being a unique form of entertainment for your guests in attendance,” Brittany Branson, a live wedding painter, told Brides.
Personalized experiences captured by CA-Milleworks
Camille is the artist behind Austin’s CA-Milleworks and is one of the most in-demand live wedding painters in The Hill Country. She’s been featured on The Knot and most recently recognized in WeddingWire’s 2022 couple’s choice awards. The Art Institute of Houston graduate spent over a decade as a graphic designer before turning her passion for painting into a full-time career.

Painting Packages
As Camille states on her website, a live wedding painting is an heirloom and “one of the most personalized and exceptional experiences that a couple can add to their day.” To help couples choose the perfect way to document their wedding, CA-Milleworks offers four different painting packages. All painting packages include seven hours of on-site set-up and painting, with the goal of having the painting completed by the end of the event.
The packages are broken down by the size of the canvas: The Intimate (14×18 inches), The Perfect Touch (16×20 inches), The Unforgettable (18×24 inches), and The Ultimate (22×28 inches).
Live wedding paintings may be Camille’s specialty, but she also offers the option of having a customized painting done based on a photo for those events she’s unable to attend.
