Food trucks have been riding a wave of popularity for well over a decade now, and that doesn’t appear to be slowing down anytime soon. There are over 700 food trucks currently operating in Texas and some of the best can be found right here in Central Texas.
Consider grabbing a bite from these area food trucks the next time you’re hungry and see them parked at a local spot.
Connor’s Creamery: With warm weather here, nothing satisfies on a hot day quite like ice cream. This soft-serve mobile treat truck can regularly be found parked outside Garbo’s Lobster on N. Mopac Expressway in Austin. The truck is open Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday: 12 – 9 PM and Friday – Saturday: 12-10 PM.
With a range of soft serve flavors like black raspberry, bubble gum, pineapple, and chocolate, there’s something for every variety of sweet tooth. Of course, the treats don’t stop at simple soft serve. Customers are invited to customize their creations with toppings like Nutella, hot fudge, graham crackers, M&Ms, pecans, and of course – sprinkles. Yum!
Raza’s Food Shack: Head over to 211 W. Mercer Street in Dripping Springs on your next lunch break to discover a local food truck that is all about mouthwatering Mexican street food. Open Tuesday through Friday from 11 to 8 and Saturday from 9 AM to 7 PM, Raza’s serves up everything from simple tacos to overstuffed quesadillas and tortas.
If the photos on the truck’s Facebook page are any indication, customers clearly can’t get enough of the grub that Raza’s offers on its regularly rotating menu.
Pig Pen BBQ – It should come as no surprise that Pig Pen BBQ has some of the best barbecues in Dripping Springs. The owners have been perfecting their seasoning and barbecue techniques for over 20 years!
Hungry barbecue fans can swing by the restaurant’s brick-and-mortar location on Hway 290 Tuesday through Sunday, but the restaurant’s truck is also a regular at area events and will even come to you for catering. With items like smoked brisket, ribs, and sausage, there’s plenty of ‘cue to squeal about.
A.T. Eatz Burger Joint – Burgers, coffee, and cocktails… you’ll find all three when you stop in at FairLane: Cocktails and Coffee on Ranch Rd 12 in Dripping Springs. This burger truck can be found parked outside and offers some of the juiciest (and messiest) burgers in town.
Yes, the classic cheeseburger is on the menu, but for customers looking to really go big, consider ordering up the Sunnyside ( a cheeseburger with bacon and a fried egg). Add on a side of fried pickles to share at one of the picnic tables, and it’s a match made in burger heaven.
