Nicholas Dotin set out to make his daughter’s wish for a live music venue in Dripping Springs come true. Mercer Dancehall opened its doors on February 1, 2013. And a new Dripping Springs institution was born.
About Mercer Dancehall
Music was already a big part of the Dotin family’s lives. Nicholas had more than 40 years of experience as a sound engineer and musician. Gay, his wife, used her design and sales background to create a place that gives the dancehall its unbeatable vibe.
Although a special ed teacher by day, Shelby spends her night scouting bars and venues for music to bring to Mercer Dancehall. In 2018, the venue moved to its current location on 23490 Ranch Road 12 in Driftwood. The new location provides spectacular views of the Texas Hill Country from its 2,100 sq. ft. porch. The dance floor has plenty of room for you to move around.
You can turn Mercer Dancehall into a local getaway. It offers cabins surrounded by wineries and breweries. After you’re done boot-scootin’ the night away, walk right next door to the cabin and kick off your boots.
“Best Honky Tonk in Central Texas!” said Jimmie Vaughan, a blues-rock guitarist and singer from Austin and brother of Stevie Ray Vaughan.
What’s Happening at Mercer Dancehall
The dancehall reopened on May 22, just in time for Memorial Day weekend. To protect their customers, they have limited seating available on a first-come, first-served basis. They advise guests to arrive early to improve their chances of scoring a table, chair, or bar stool. Table reservations are available.
The dancehall follows the governor’s current occupancy guidelines. A hand sanitizing station is available at the entrance. Tables and chairs are spread out.
