February might be the shortest month of the year, but there’s no shortage of fun events happening during those 28 days. Wild game suppers, dance lessons, and nature hikes are just a few of the events happening around the Dripping Springs area that you’re going to want to check out!
Dripping Springs Wild Game Dinner (Feb 18): Marking its 33rd year, this incredibly popular local event celebrates an evening of delicious wild game, all while supporting worthy causes. Tickets for this year’s dinner are $25 for adults and $10 for children with a portion of the proceeds benefiting Rescue One More, a charity that helps rescue children in Africa from sexual abuse.
Guided Hikes at Westcave Preserve (Feb 11): Since 1976, the Westcave Preserve has been dedicated to fostering a love of nature in people and educating them on the importance of being good stewards of the environment. If you’re in need of a great mind + body experience, get your tickets for the Yin Yoga + Silent Grotto Hike with Open Space Yoga. This is a gentle morning Yin Yoga class followed by a Silent Guided Nature Hike down to Westcave’s majestic Grotto. This is an amazing opportunity to start your morning by connecting with yourself and nature. If you’re looking for something a little more adventurous, reserve your spot on the Night Hike! Enjoy a hike in the canyon at night, led by a local biologist.
Family Campout (Feb 17-18): This overnight event is all about family fun with a night spent camping under the stars at Ranch Park. A $25 admission allows a family of four to enjoy a stargazing party, s’mores, a guided hike, and a donut breakfast. Campers of all ages are welcome, but children must be accompanied by an adult and campers should bring their own camping gear.
Music Bingo (Feb 10 and 24): Love bingo? Love music? Well, then you need to head down to Jester King Brewery for this fun Friday night event that brings the two together. It’s free to play and players will play six rounds of bingo with each round having a different musical theme (the ‘80s hits, country, TV theme songs, etc) There will be prizes and of course, great beer on tap.
Friday Night Dance Lessons: Put on your dancin’ shoes and get ready to boot-scoot-n-boogie. Happening each Friday in February at Mercer Dance Hall, are free dance lessons with John Looper. The bar is open from 5 to 11 PM with the lesson kicking off at 7:30 PM. It’s the perfect way to unwind after the work week while working on those moves for Saturday night.
