Dripping Springs isn’t just attracting local Texans and out-of-state transplants, it’s also drawing native Texans who have moved out of the Lone Star state and are coming back home. This is the story of the owners of Summer Revival Wine Co., Becky and Ian Atkins. The husband and wife team are from Texas but had moved away to Portland, Oregon for several years.
The couple founded Urban Winery in Portland in 2016 and were drawn back to Texas in 2020. In 2022, the couple opened Summer Revival Wine Co. producing the wine in Fredericksburg and operating a tasting room just off Mercer Street at 665 W on Highway 290.
Visit the Tasting Room
Summer Revival’s tasting room is open Thursday to Sunday from noon to 6 PM. Visitors can enjoy a variety of wines cultivated exclusively with Texas grapes, as well as wines from their sister Portland winery made with Oregon and Washington grapes. All of the wines are produced with “minimal intervention techniques” to help preserve the grapes’ integrity and ultimately translate to a better-tasting sip of wine.
A few of the wines currently available include a Pinot Grigio, Rosé Cabernet, Zinfandel, Pinot Gris, and a Riesling, among others.
Stay for a Bite and Good Conversation
As Summer Revival’s website proclaims, the wine company is all about “Drink good. Eat good. Feel Good.” This is reflected through its picnic menu and regular in-house events. Guests can enjoy a tasty bite to eat with their glass of wine and order from a menu that’s been thoughtfully curated with salads, sandwiches, and charcuterie boards, all utilizing locally sourced ingredients.
The wine company also regularly hosts events on select Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. A few of the November events include a vinyasa-based yoga class, a speaking event with BBQ masters Kevin Bludso and Aaron Franklin, and a small business Saturday Makers Market pop-up shopping event.
